It was an early morning wake up in Puno (about 6 a.m.) and after at a quick brekkie in the hostel I met an English speaking Mexican doctor that was going on the same bus as eme. Having someone who could translate for me heading to the same border crossing can't be a bad thing so I made sure I was near him at the border :)
We arrived at Copacabana at about 12 (note the 1 hour time difference). Bought a ferry ticket to Isla Del Sol for 10 bolivianos then chowed down a quick pizza lunch. I used my pre-ferry time to change my remaining Peruvian sols to Bolivianos and bought a bus ticket for the following day to La Paz. I wouldn't rely on Copacabana for ATMs too much since there weren't any at the time!
It's about a 2 hour ferry fide out to the island, the a BIG hike uphill, you have the option of paying kids to carry your bag but I felt bad. In hindsight, it's probably one of the few ways for them to make money, live and learn.
By chance I ran in to George & Nadia from my Huaraz trek so we met up for dinner. There was a late night stumble home since I didn't take a torch out to dinner with Nadia & George, and there simply isn't much light at all. Great for star-gazing, not so good for walking on rocky roads :)
