Galapagos Islands - Day 2 - Fearless sea-lions on Rabida Island
Having recovered from bouncing around the inside of my cabin as the boat cruised to Rabida island, we had our first real taste of Galapagos wildlife. As we wandered up the red-sand beach of Rabida island there was just sea-lion after sea-lion and they just don't care that we're there!! It's quite incredible to be taking a photo of a sea-lion and just have him get up and waddle straight past you without a care in the world.
The time with the sea-lions was the highlight here, but we also saw a pelican nesting colony in the bushes at the back of the beach. There's some quite spectacular views from the other side of the island, but sadly our wandering past salt lagoons didn't produce any flamingos. Can't win them all!
After the walk we were quickly in to our snorkelling gear for a swim out to the point on the right hand side of the beach.
Back to the boat and on to Santiago island, joined by dolphins leaping out of the water in front of the boat! Not a bad place this :)
