Some much needed chillaxing

The outside of the hotel - the Athena Beach
My GF (girlfriend) and I had been invited to the wedding of an old school friend. Weddings, normally aren't my thing. I hate suits, loathe ties and abhor small talk. This wedding however was to be located on the sunny island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean, somewhere I'd never been, so my usual matrimonial misery was replaced with an unprecedented joie de verve about the prospect.

The flight was short, pleasant in itself, and as soon as the coach dropped us off at the hotel, the chilling began. The room was nice - big, comfy and containing all the necessary amenities. It did seem however that the Cypriots took a dim view of cohabitation by unmarried couples, as we were given single beds. Before the GF could get ideas, I pushed them together, creating an ultimate double. The hotel seemed to get the hint they left them there for the rest of our stay.

Normally when I travel, I tend to pack the days with as much sight seeing, sweating and sun burn as I can manage. (The sight seeing is the only intended part). Here, however, we took it slowly; mainly as we had to wait for wedding preparations to be finalised. I never thought a beach holiday would appeal to me, but I duly slathered my pasty form in factor 50+, found a sun lounger in the shade and opened my book. There I remained. It was great. Many books later, I had to reassess my view of chillout breaks - they're ace, especially when an army of waitresses are on hand to furnish your every requirement.
