I dragged this stupid ladder all over the marsh so I could pop up over the vegetation to map it...

Today was all work, from 6am until 7pm, and it was reeeeally hot, never under a hundred degrees.   I actually like really hot weather, but it's sometimes annoying when you're trying to work.

The plan was to map the vegetation of the marsh south of the oasis...   Problem is that you usually map something like that by climbing up the nearest hill and looking out across it.  Or having a really good aeral photograph.  Well... we ended up with neither.  THe area is perfectly flat, and the photo was really bad.

We did evenually make it up a low hill, but it was a few miles away so not that helpful.  We did find some cool fossils on the hill though...   Eventually we did it the old fashioned way, plowing out across the marsh on foot, mapping yard by yard as we go.  With tall, dense vegetation, you can only see a few feet ahead of you, so mapping a huge area like this is a challenge!

Two more days here, hopefully I'll finish early some day to do some exploring around the area.
