First proper day in Cairo today and we managed to sleep in until 8am which is good for us when traveling. Were planning on taking it easy today seeing the sights of the town, started off with the Egyptian museum which would have been interesting if it was not for the endless tour groups rushing about on their tight schedule on their day trip to Cairo. We spent 2.5 hours walking round great exhibits but poorly displayed, very much an old fashioned museum. Tried to get to the old city ruins on foot but this ended up being a wild goose chase so after an hour of walking we gave up knew it wasn't going well when we had not seen a westerner in 45 mins and we ended up watching cows get thrown off the back of a pickup towards a man waiting with a chainsaw, you can guess that the outcome was not good for the cow, perhaps our tea later? however after watching them cut fly covered meat in the street I may become a veggie for a week. Pyramids of Giza and the sphynx, maybe even a 330km horse ride to the original pyramids at saqqqara. On a final note we have  been unable to find a Irish bar in this whole bloody city and that is never a good sign, however things may be looking up i found an english type pub that opens at 6 so we going to give it a try as dying for a pint, wish us luck we need it...........
