Snow in Atlanta!!!
I drove to Atlanta to visit my sister and it snowed! 1-2" of snow in Atlanta! This only happens about once every 5 years. People in the city were near panic - do we close schools and businesses? How do we drive in snow? Being from the Midwest, I find this amusing. It felt just like home (only it was about 30 degrees warmer here than back home that weekend).
We stopped at a friends's house to enjoy the zip line they have in their yard. Basically its a swing that runs down a cable connected between two trees. How fun! It was fun to play in the snow in Atlanta. I think most people there enjoyed it, but will be glad when it warms up.
The next day, we stopped at TJ's - a Packer bar in northern Atlanta for the NFC (football) championship game. The Green Bay Packers (Wisconsin) played the New York Giants to see who was going to the Super Bowl. The bar was packed with Packer fans. We joined a couple at their table because there were no open seats left when we got there 90 minutes before the kick off! It was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we lost. The whole bar went silent as the Giants kicked the game winning field goal in over time to go to the Super Bowl. It was very disappointing, but the atmosphere was a lot of fun.
They also serve lunch and dinner, but breakfast is served all day. Their sweet tea and coffee are also good. The service is friendly and the place fills up and often has a short waiting line around meal times.
Take a look at the menu on their website. It is different, but delicious! This cafe is one of the sought after stops of many visitors to Atlanta and has several locations in the city.

The service is good with friendly servers and the prices reasonable, even leaning towards cheap for drinks. For $40, we had two pitchers of beer, two meals and an appetizer (for 2 people).
I've heard the bar is also fun for Thrashers hockey games and other sporting events. They also have Trivia (unless a Packer game is on) and can be a fun scene on weekends. The only downside is that it can get smoky in there and for guys, the bathroom line gets really long on game days, so get in line early. Ladies, no problems there for once! Another downside is that it is on the northern edge of Atlanta, about a 20-30 minute drive from downtown Atlanta.
Another note on getting to the game early. My sister and I arrived 90 minutes before the kickoff for the NFC championship game and there were no tables left anywhere. We walked around and asked to sit with a nice couple that had two empty chairs at their table. I'm so glad we did! We got great seats - front row to the big tv (like 6 ft by 10 ft).
