Joanne and I on arrival at FLL beach
A beautiful idea, beautiful company, lovely morning and yet the sun will not show it’s head. What a disappointment indeed: well Joanne (Flyinhigh) decided to take me for a tour of Fort Lauderdale Beach, the night before we had agreed to an early rise so we could watch the sunrise at the beach, 'brilliant idea' we both thought. We decided we would wake up at 5:30 a.m. because the sun would rise at about 6:00 a.m. Joanne set her clock and s did I, we said good night yet none of us went to bed immediately. I jumped on TB to load a few photos of the tour from the day before and respond to the many comments I had received from the Yolo meet-up posting. It was about 1:15 a.m. before I went to bed, I could hear Joanne’s movements but not for long.
When my alarm went off in the morning, I jumped out of bed and immediately went to make some tea: I started to make tea but did not complete the process because Joanne was up and ready to walk out the door and my hot water was yet to start whistling in the water kettle. Nonetheless we got out as scheduled and headed towards the beach, we found parking (which was easy since no one was at the beach save for a few runners), Joanne dropped $2.25 in quarters into the meter reader to cover us for at least two hours of parking. We strolled along the beach; it was clear at this early hour, a few people were running along the paved walkway while one single diver lay in the water as if scanning for something very delicate. If we thought the sunrise was a brilliant idea, we now were thinking 'bad idea' - the clouds were too heavy over the horizon, they shielded the sun until it was way too high in the sky for a beautiful morning glow. As if in shame, the sun would not show it’s head, we waited for about forty minutes and when it eventually did, it was too bright to snap a photo.
