Northern Exposure to a small town.

Upon arriving in Talkeetna we took the shuttle bus into town and walked the streets for a couple of hours before eating some lunch at the West Rib Cafe and Pub. One half pound hamburgers with fries and a soft drink. Unfortunately it was Coke and not Pepsi.
Talkeetna is supposedly the town that the television show Northern Exposure used as its basis. But after they were there for a very short day or two, everyone in the cast said it was too far to go to and so the producers moved down to the state of
After lunch we finished our stroll of town and returned to the shuttle bus stop where we waited a few minutes for the bus to take us the one hour ride to the McKinley Princess Lodge for the evening. We didn't even need to check in because it was all automatic. We went directly to our building and room and got settled in for the evening. This place is built for the younger crowd than the retired folks that take cruises. The very pretty and large lodge is only for the registration, restaurants, souvenir shops, and wonderful large fireplace and sitting area. There is also a huge deck out the back that
Down at the Lodge we checked the menus for the several restaurants and got a couple more photos. Dinner was at the Grizzly Bar. A great waitress, gave us super service, and really good food And she didn’t even charge us for coffee when we pointed out her mistake. Bigger tip! Back in our room we went to bed very early.
