Fairbanks - relaxing

We're on our own today, seeing that most folks are flying out. We decided to visit the Museum of the North at the University of Alaska and then try to get to the Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart stores in town. We don't have Fred Meyer stores in our area and supposedly the Wal-Mart is the second largest in the nation. Hard to believe in a small place like Fairbanks.
Cloudy and overcast almost all day with even a few sprinkles and a very cold breeze. I think they said only up to 50 degrees F. today.
We had slept in and by the time we were ready to eat it was close to lunch time. The gift shop had a couple of small quickie type things so we got them.
The outfitters desk suggested that with the stops we wanted to do it would be much cheaper to call AirLink to drive us around.

Then after calling and having AirLink pick us up again and delivering us to a large shopping area we ate lunch at a Subway sandwich shop. We strolled through a large Wal-Mart and then a Fred Meyers before eating dinner at Chili's. Back to Wal-Mart where we picked up a couple of things to eat over the next day and a half.
Back at our hotel we spent the evening writing, reading and relaxing while we waited to see if we would see any northern lights. At midnight we went outside to see if anything would show.
