My first trip to South America. I have 5 weeks with no set plans. So i will see where the road takes me. After South America, I will be heading to Europe for 2 months to some familiar and some very unfamiliar places. I apologize in advance if this is difficult to read, grammar was never my best subject. Cheers.

Travel Day: Santiago, Chile to Rio, Brazil

Santiago

I took a bus from near the hostel to the airport for only 1200 pesos.  The buses left every 15 minutes and took about 30 minutes.  I booked a flight with LAN airlines for 215 US.

Once in Brasil, i arrived too late for a bus into town, so i had to take a taxi for 60 reals.  Here again you can somewhat haggle the price.  The original price was 75 reals.  The hostel was in Ipanema, called Ipanema Sun.  The owner was a super nice guy named Fredy.  He was constantly making sure everything was good.  Unfortunately for him, his co-owner was stealing money from the hostel lockers in the rooms.  While i was there this was discovered and Fredy was notified.  I did not find out what Fredy did about this however because i was leaving.  But i am sure the problem was rectified.

The hostel was very cheap, only 15 reals per night.  This was for a giant dorm room.  I think there were over 20 beds in one room.  No air condition, so it got pretty hot at night.  But i was happy, the showers were hot.  Here i met back up with Donna and Holly, whom i met in Buenos Aires.
