Travel Day: Dublin to Cove, Ireland

Cobh Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

My first trip to South America. I have 5 weeks with no set plans. So i will see where the road takes me. After South America, I will be heading to Europe for 2 months to some familiar and some very unfamiliar places. I apologize in advance if this is difficult to read, grammar was never my best subject. Cheers.

Travel Day: Dublin to Cove, Ireland

Bought a ticket for 62 euro roundtrip from Dublin to Cove on the train.  However, we learned later that bus tickets were only 18 euro roundtrip, oopsy.  Newsflash: the Ireland country side is very green.  We choose to visit Cove (Cobh if you are Irish) because we could not find a hotel in Cork.  But having said that, it was really nice to see this out of the way, quaint town.  This town is famous for 2 huge historical events.  This town is first famous for aiding the survivors and collecting the dead after German submarines sank the Lusitania.  Second, this was the last port of call for the doomed Titanic.

We booked a hotel at Bella Vista for 15 euro per person per night for a double room.  This hotel was very nice.

Apparently Napaleon's physician lived there.  The room also came with a complimentary breakfast, which was the best i have had on this trip.  The hotel has a chinese restaurant attached to it, and so we ate there for lunch.  It was average.  We walked around the town for awhile, and then headed in to some pubs for drinks.  We had dinner at Tradewinds, which was recommended by every local we asked.  We had the Irish stew and fried Brie, very lovely.  My favorite pint turned out to be Beamish, which is smoother than Guinness or Murphys.  We drank the rest of the night away in Lusitania Pub and Mauretania.  The locals were very friendly.  Anytime the Irish heard our accents, they would come over and have a chat.  I was very impressed with the Irish i met.  Great people.
