A wedding and a tour through Ireland

I had heard rumors that a dear friend of mine in NYC was getting married and I would be invited.  I was happy when I learned that it would be at her families hotel in Ireland.  I got my ticket and cleaned my underused suit, read up on how to tie a tie [1] and headed for the airport.

The wedding went very well, 3 days of eating and drinking with a lot of very nice people.  I even won the traditional betting on the length of the toasts during the reception.  My winning came out to over 50 euro.  Good thing the winnings were in coins and wouldn’t fit in my wallet.  Because the night I checked out, my wallet didn’t.  4 hours later I am standing on the side of the road with no money or credit cards and had to put the winnings into a cab ride back to the hotel.  Too bad because Kilkenny looked like it would have been fun.

1 - I have to remember the punchline here.  The footnote didn't copy in.
