A few months ago my old boss asked me if i would like to help him with his huge house in east- Germany. (former DDR)
He told me that we where not alone because a constructionworker, a friend of him would also join us.
That promised a lot because my old boss is a former Nigerian Army soldier and he has the Korsakoff disease...
Because i didn't want to drive with them from the Netherlands to east-Germany i bought a flight from Dusseldorf to Dresden.
I didn't took a flight from Amsterdam because it's faster for me to drive to Dusseldorf.
The distance is thesame but in Germany is no speed limit on the highways :)
So i entered Dusseldorf Airport and 2 hours later i was in the air!
I flew with Air Berlin, a low cost airline in Germany but the plane was a brandnew Airbus, comfortable seats and enoug legspace!
The flight lasted only 40 minutes but in that time i got a free breakfast and 2 free drinks, thats service!
And 40 minutes later we landed on Dresden Airport in east Germany.
When i walked outside the airport my old boss was waiting already for me with his van.
While we drove trough Dresden and the small villages you realy can see the difference between east and west Germany.
From 1961 till 1989 a 45,3km long wall splitted up East and West Germany during the Cold War but now the wall is gone you still can see the differences between east en west Germany.
We arrived in Neusalza Spremberg, it was just like a ghosttown, everywhere grey houses with closed doors and windows.
Shops everywhere but no people, sometimes you see somebody walking with his dog in the mainstreet and thats it.
And we stayed in one of those creepy villages named: Neusalza Spremberg.
We first went to the Netto supermarket for some pie, beers and wodka's because the Dutch National soccerteam played against England that night.
God i love that supermarket, those Germans know eveything about meat and apfelsrudels!
I write further when i have more time
