What was the point?
In Bregenz we did a little bit of shopping from a local supermarket as it is a lot cheaper to buy here than in Switzerland we found out, and then headed back into the car, put the key in, and it wouldn't turn! Dam, I thought, we probably have broken down about 350km away from the hotel, in another country and it was early evening.
Not good. I rang my dad on the cellphone to get his advice and he thinks I just need to turn the steering wheel and turn the key at the same time as the steering lock as kicked in. It worked, it did the trick. So out of Bregenz we went, looking for another resturant for a late dinner, but the rain just came down. In fact it was so bad, I didn't bother looking for a resturant anymore and just stopped in McDonald's as the rain was making it impossible to see out of the windows. The roads were flooded, and every time I tried to brake, I just skidded, like all the other cars. That was it, McDonalds, have a meal, (probably get ill at the same time), and wait for the rain to clear, which it did within 50 minutes. After that, it was a long boring 4 hour drive back to Gyron via St Gallen, Zurich, Bern and Montreux. A wasted day I thought with the weather, but a day I won't forget in a hurry.
