Accommodation in Bad Gastein and a change of plan!
Bad Gastein was to be our base for the next two nights, or should I say three nights, when the hotel (which I thought was going to be a hostel) offered us a free night, and when this included all the facilities included plus breakfast, we couldn't say no. So after the long drive from western Switzerland, we checked in, and fell good to be in our hotel room. But after a while we had to get out and check out this popular ski-hiking resort.
A walk down the hill to the centre was a bit of a challenge as the hill was quite steep but at the bottom we came across the Gastein waterfall, which was impressive, the water gashing down from the mountain side and into the river at the bottom of the valley. It was cool and refreshing to stand next to it, and in some ways woke me up and kept me going for a few extra hours despite the early start.
Apart from that we just used Bad Gastein as a base to explore the local area, and as its my birthday tomorrow, I am looking forward to looking into Austria a bit more. :)
The rooms for the price was great. Television, clean beds, and comfortable and the washrooms was excellent as well. The rooms were very big and spaceous!
The bar and resturant downstairs is worth checking out, and the staff were excellent. Can't say more about this hotel, its brilliant if you going as a couple and on a budget.
One problem - not many car parking spaces but wasn't a problem for us in the end.
