The Third largest ancient library

Upon arrival to Kusadasi harbour, the port Cruise ships dock in, we started to get ready for the excursion tour to house of Virgin Mary, and Ephesus, the disembarking was well organized, we joined group number 5, almost all passengers participated in that tour, you can imagine disembarking of more than 500 persons at the same time!!  We got to bus # 5, It took us around 25 minutes to reach The House of Virgin Mary up on the hill, we stayed there around 40 minutes before we got back to the bus headed to Efesus, we spent there around one hour and 20 minutes, our guide was very konwledgeable, he provided us with a lot of information about those historical sites.

We equipped ourselves with bottles of water and hats just before we start Efesus sightseeing, it was so hot , could be around 38C, however, it was very much worth the effort, knowing  about the ancient generations, how they lived and what history they made.

The House of Virgin Mary
In spite of the ancient city’s decline and destruction by major earthquake, the excavations have revealed much of it, including temples, particularly the temple to the goddess Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, shops, houses, the third largest ancient Library, a magnificent theatre and churches.

After we finished the tour, we headed back to the ship, on our way we stopped by a famous shop for jewellery, carpets and leather called “Matis”, the ship was within a walking distance, so we walked back from the shop after we enjoyed our “window shopping”

Those who visited Kusadasi before, they must notice the difference, many structures have been made during the last few years, made the city, very clean and modern.

As we started cruising again, and after dinner served, the Greek Night show began, made that night very special.

All passengers and crew members were asked to wear white and blue, and instead of having the entertainment team perform that night,  some Greek crew members performed a great Greek dances, then they asked the passengers to join them. And as usual after the show finished you have the option to stay late in the open air on deck 10, 9 or 5 having some drinks before getting to sleep or lose some money in the Casino if you like gambling!!
