In the morning we took a direct train from Stazione Centrale to Varenna (heading towards Colico/Sondrio) . It's about 1 hour ride, and the train leaves every two hours. One-way ticket cost about 5 Euros. We weren’t aware that we had to valid the train tickets on the platform before entering the train. Fortunately the ticket inspector was nice and he did that for us. The bus in Asso stops in front of the train station, there we took train to Milano Cadorna ( there is no connection to Stazione Centrale)
