South Korea!
So...a bit's been going on in the last few weeks. On Friday I secured a Korean Driver's license. It took a bit more effort than I was initially prepared for, but in the end it worked out just fine. I had to take a 20 question test and trade in my US license to get the Korean one. Sounds easy enough but I haven't studied "road rules" in 9 years, and I failed the first written driving test I took when I was 15. The only "study book" that wasn't in Korean was 14 bucks and I was determined not to pay that ludicrous sum of money to study for a 15 minute test. I don't know what the point of it all was anyway since it doesn't seem like there are ANY driving laws that are actually enforced here. So I barely passed, one more mistake and I'd have gotten the big red Fail stamp, or whatever they give you here.

Woohoo. Anyway, now I can rent cars and go driving and everything all legal-like. Ahsaa.

On Sunday, Jiyoung and I went to the next town over to check out the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. I'm not really even sure what kind of trees these are because I don't think they're actually Cherry trees... (yes, my ignorance of all things plant related is appalling...) Anyway, they line the big streets of my town and are just beautiful. The next town over, Jinhae, has tons of them everywhere! It was really nice to see all the trees all over the mountain. Since it was a festival, they had tons of tents and little shows going on, and a huge stage set up in the middle of the central roundabout. We caught a few acts and even got to see some guys playing traditional Korean instruments.
Ah, yes, cherry blossoms....
The music sounded great. It was a really beautiful, sunny day, too, so everything was just about perfect. I had a really great time.

Anyway, I believe Spring has officially arrived and I am soooo ready for it. I love this weather. Of course, it's a bit of a bummer to have to walk in to work right in the middle of the warmest parts of the day, but that's the life. Not much else going on. I'm pushing 8 months here and it's a bit crazy to think about. I really, really want to get out and travel the world, but I'm already planning on coming back next March for another year. I'm being sucked in! No worries, for now. I just had a little noodle and sam gyeop sal meal and Independence Day is showing on one of my 3 English channels. It's all good. The word for now.
