Great day Sailing in Friesland
After so many stories about the first Friesland meet up, the one last year, I didn't want to miss the second Friesland meet up, organized by Wendy and Rowena. The girls did a great job with this meet up.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to join from Friday to Monday. I decided to go to Leeuwarden on Saturday night, because I couldn't make it on time for the sailing on Sunday morning if I travelled from home... I took the train to Zwolle, where I met Anna-Isabel. Together we took the train to Leeuwarden. We didn't got a chance to chat on the train ride because we we're sitting in the silence area. An older man got angry with us talking at normal sound... In the meantime he made a lot of noise with the trashcan...
Arriving 9.15pm at Leeuwarden we walked to the Oranje Eden 'Travbuddy' Hotel, which was located a hundred meters from the train station. Jos did a great job on the reservations in this nice 4 star hotel. I shared a room with Anna-Isabel, so we still got the chance to talk, since it had been a long time ago we'd met.
The other travbuddies who went kiting on Saturday weren't back at the hotel yet, so Anna-Isabel and I took a walk in the city centre to find a shop for some drinks. We ended up at the McDonalds... :-(
After a while every one was back at the hotel and we headed for the bars to have some drinks. Every one was exhausted from a day kiting and left 'early' for the good bed in the hotel :-)
Together with Lieke, Marthijn, Matt and Oussama we decided to party a little longer and we went to a small bar. I guess it was Sybs, or something like that.
Next morning, Sunday, we had to get up really really really early after only a few hours sleep... At 8am we left the hotel to go to the sailboat in Lemmer. Unfortunately it started raining... No, we want sunshine for the boat trip... Arriving at the harbor of Lemmer is still rained. But by the time we left the harbor the weather changed. Yeah!!! Every now and then, we even had a little sunshine!!
After two hours of sailing on the engines, we arrived in the so called smallest town of the Netherlands: Sloten.
With massages and live guitar music this was a really relaxed day! We even had to raise the sails for a while! Woohoo! It ended to fast!! By 6pm, after 8 hours sailing, we arrived in the harbor of Lemmer again. Some travbuddies went out for dinner, but I had to leave, because I went to a friend.
Thanks to all for this great meet up! I had a great time again!
