Huge Mao's statue is to remind Uighur people who is rulling here

To be honest, Kashgar was not originally on my itinerary but people I met on road told me that if I want to see the old city of Kashgar unchanged I better go now because otherwise the historical part will be demolished and replaced by kitch buildings within next few months. Well, the Chinesse Government call it renovation which the international community should admire but somewhat no-one I met believes it....

Kashgar, as the whole Xinjiang (New Frontier) province, is a totally different world than the mainland China. They have nothing in common with Chinesse as they look differently, speek differently, pray differently (they're Muslims), dress differently, behave differently and so on.

..The largest ethnic community, now a minority, are Uighur people but you can find plenty of Tajiks, Kyrgyzs or Kazakhs. I firstly wanted to write few lines about the Uighur-Chinesse conflict here but then I changed my mind and I leave that to people more familiar with the situation. I will share only a sentence I heared from German students who spent in Xinjiang  two months in interviewing Uighur farmers and they concluded the following: "We are leaving this province very sad and depressed as there's no future for Uighurs" :-(....I personally believe we will hear about this conflict again soon in the future as the Chinesse Govornment's repression seems unbearable to any human being...

I liked Kashgar a lot, I met many interesting travellers and had a lot of kebabs and samsas...:-) Sorry for not describing much here but it would take me a week to share here things I experienced there...
