Pingyao said to be the best preserved ancient city in China
September 28, 2009
Pingyao said to be the best preserved ancient city in China and I spent there 3 days (too many I feel) as I was not able to get a train ticket to Xi'an my next destination as the whole China is on the move due to 1-week national holidays. Actually it was a hassle even to get to Pingyao as I had to take a standing ticket from Beijing to Shijiazhuan (4hours), than a hard seat ticket to Tiayuan (2h) and finally a standing ticket again to Pingyao (1.5h). But I was not bored on train as I was approched by many Chinesse who wanted to see who that Laowai (a foreigner, a rather negative expression) is :-)
