Smallest city in the Netherlands and sail away

We made a stop in Sloten. It is the smallest city in The Netherlands and has the papers to prove it. We walked around the small city and marveled at it’s tiny beauty. Pictures had to be taken on a little bridge over the canal with a large windmill behind, so picturesque. Once we left Sloten we continued on in the canals. Eventually, we reached a larger canal where we could raise the sails. It was a group effort and went very quick. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough wind to really get to sail that day. Rowena’s brother and friend provided us with entertainment by playing their guitars and singing throughout the day. They were very talented guys and made for a nice sailing soundtrack. Rowena’s Mom let us know that lunch was ready and we all enjoyed the food. During the afternoon they kept the food coming. It was so much food! We all just relaxed and drifted from conversation to conversation as we drifted from canal to canal. At one point the brought out herring. Rob decided to give it another try and didn’t like it at all. He ended up spitting it out in the water. Luckily he wasn’t the only one.
