Meeting Juan & Gena

I took the train out of Barcelona in the late afternoon and arrived in Valencia in the early evening. Juan and his wife Eugenia met me at the train station. Although we had shared some friendship online for some time, as they were friends of my brother Jerry (travelsnobb), it was the first time we had met in person. Right from the start I got a walking tour of Valencia at night as we made our way on foot from the train station to their apartment. I didn’t really know what to expect in Valencia, but it was a pleasant change from the Big and Busy Barcelona. Valencia seemed more relaxed and with a rhythm I could appreciate better. Juan and Gena were excellent hosts in escorting me and inviting me into their home. I got to meet Nika and Tekla, a pair of adorable little dogs, and we were instant friends. As it was the weekend coming, we all planned to go to the family home in Betera for a bit of relaxation in the country. This seemed an excellent idea to me. We had some opportunity that evening for conversation and sharing in person. I looked forward to the extended hospitality of my friends in inviting me for a weekend getaway in the country, an experience I likely would not have as just a tourist.
