Back to the Future

As it was Monday and Juan had to work, I spent the day with Gena. I have a liking for European clothes since I am a slender build and find they fit me better, so Gena indulged me by taking me shopping. I found a couple pairs of pants to my liking. We also had time to go ‘Back to the Future’. I caught sight of some of the futuristic downtown the day before on the auto tour, but we got to see it close up in walking around there on this day. The Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences) in Valencia is a futuristic complex of buildings designed for the purpose as a scientific and cultural center. It runs along a 2 km span with a central pool of water accommodating a number of buildings.

The main structures are as described on the website (http://www.cac.es/en/home.html): "The Hemisfèric (IMAX cinema and digital projections), the Umbracle (a landscaped vantage point and car park), the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum (an innovative centre of interactive science), the Oceanográfico (the largest aquarium in Europe with over 500 marine species) and the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (which takes care of the operatic programme). The Ágora gives the complex a multifunctional space." Constructed over a period from 1998-2009, this place is 'out of this world' and looks like something you might imagine into the future, or maybe as close to what it might feel to be with the Jetsons, if you know this cartoon from TV back in the day.
Walk this way...
There is plenty of entertainment to be had here, but worthwhile just to go see it, walk about and marvel at the architecture. There is a nice garden nearby, which is part of the complex to enjoy as well. The City of Arts and Sciences is really something special to see and highly recommended to pay a visit while in Valencia. We had an excellent outing together, Gena, Nicka, Tekla and me. In the evening after Juan got off work, we had a nice meal at home and a walk outside in the evening with Nicka and Tekla. We had a round of beer to celebrate our friendship and evening relaxation. This was especially nice for me and I enjoyed this immensely. Tomorrow morning I would ne back to the Big and Busy, but not Barcelona, and would be bound for Madrid. I really didn’t want to go and could have enjoyed this stay with Juan and Gena another couple days.

Indeed, Paul, and you can always visit the stuff closer by when you get older. It will still be there...

For sure I will go there in the future again. And more than once. But right now I am focusing more on longer trips. I mean to a further destination.

@Paul - You can add Spain on your travel list along with Italy. Valencia is especially nice I think, and enjoyed it more that Barcelona & Madrid - Less Big & Busy!

@Das - Indeed so, and you got it!
