If you are in Liverpool for Halloween then this is an opportunity not too be missed...

Annually the Liverpool Lantern Company demonstrate months of preparation, choreography and practise along with theatre and pyrotechnics in producing the spectacular Halloween Lantern Parade in Liverpool's Sefton Park. A 200 acre man made park, arguably the best and most loved by the locals, is a network of quaint paths with a boating lake and a relaxed cafe secluded in it's centre. In spring the park draws people by the plenty to take a look at the mass of dafodils and blue bells surrounding the lake. The scenery completely contradicting the facts as to how the park came about. October 31st sees the traditional, lamppost lined paths transformed into walkways and stage areas for some of the best amateur dramatic displays around.

A parade of lanterns made into skulls, crescent moons, goblins and ghouls set the night alight. Although choreographed to some degree the demonstration seems to spin a degree of improvisation. The concession would grind to a halt under the conduction of a bellowing voice and simultaneously break into a song about walking down the dark waters edge at midnight. Audience participation is paramount as there is no segregation between those bearing the lanterns and those simply revelling in the jovial atmosphere.

An absolute must for anyone visting the city late October.
