Backpacking and working around Australia, with a four month trip to Southeast Asia.

Myall Lakes National Park

Spent a couple nights camping in a park with some beautiful inland lakes and big dunes next to the beach. Saw some interesting Aboriginal dig sites in the dunes. On catching a ride back to the main Pacific Highway, the Greyhound that was supposed to pick me up stopped just long enough for me to pick up my bag, then took off. The next one wasn't for another 6 hours! So I ended up hitching to Port Macquarie as well...

I have decided that at least for the Sydney to Brisbane leg, the Greyhound pass is not worth the money. There are cheap local bus services everywhere, and hitchhiking has caused me to meet some interesting people. Having your own van or 4wd truck is definitely the way to see Australia, if possible.

I would have loved to see you snap a photo of the Greyhound bus pulling away, with your bag aboard... :-)
