I am working in Beijing as a choral conductor for an international school. It is my goal to see as much of China as I possibly can while I am here...

Nanchang

So, after a 12 hour ride/sleep on a train (turned 14 because of delays), we reached Nanchang. The school had it organized with an area hotel to let us take showers. While half of us went to eat breakfast, the other half went for showers, then we switched. I was just happy to see a real toilet. The first one I've seen on this trip, and I fear the last. We then split into 16 small groups for a "scavenger hunt throughout out the city. It was...chaotic, but fun. It took about 3 hours to finish and, of course, my team won :) (though we did have to run the last bit to beat another team).

We're now on a four hour drive to Wu Yuan (our next stage of the "china studies" trip). Its' been beautiful. The hills/small mountains are gorgeous; it feels like a cross between scotland and the shenandoah mountains. I've been amazed at how great the roads are in this area, with great tunnels through the mountains; they're perfect. I just wish it didn't take so long to get here.
