Shanghai
August 2, 2009
So after a 10 hour flight from heathrow we arrived in Shanghai ans were informed that we will be inspected for swine flu by taking our tempertaure. After filling in the immigration forms we were free to go, so no inspection. At the immigration in the airport there were taking our temperature, but we were all clear so we could continue our travels in China.
We met our tour guide Tracy who was one of the best tour guides we had in the trip. She was so nice, friendly and funny and she got to know us and we go to know her for the time we had her. After leaving the airport which was around 10 am, we arrived at resturant to have lunch around 11am, and this became typical to go for a meal immediatly coming off a plane. During lunch got to know the rest of tour group, there was 10 of us all together, so a nice small group and everyone one nice.
After lunch we went to check in at the hotel in Holiday Inn, a really nice hotel and rested for a couple of hours. That night we went to the shopping area in shanghai and it was beautiful as there so many people and the lights on the buildings, amazing.
After a long night rest, i was ready to tour. In the morning we went to a temple, which i had seen so many times in Thailand so this was nothing new for me, but nice to see as i had not been to asis in 4 years. The temple was nice and i really liked the smell of the incents that were there.
We went to a jade factory, and had an in depth tour around the factory and history lecture about jade. Jade is a specila type of stone quite stone and the most common colour is green. I was not intrested in this, but still intresting to know, unfortunately this was not our last jade factory, at the end of the tour we taken of course to those empty shops that are expensive and nobody buys anything from.
In the afternoon we visited the Wu Garden. That area was nice as it as old chinese style builidngs but it was really busy. That evening we taken to a srcobatic show which was really good. There was alot of talent in it, and the some of acts where stunning, it was fantastic.
The last day we went to the the museum, which had a variety of all things, and it was intrersting to see real old chinese artifacts.
Tracy suggested if we wanted to take the maglev train, which is the fastest train in the world and reaches up to 430 km/h. So we took the train which takes you to the airport, and it was an expierence. It was going so fast, it was kind of a blur when looking outside.
We departed from Shanghai and going to the docks to take 8 day crusie on the Victoria Pirnce cruise
