Windy days, cold nights and lots of fires in San Luis

Nice view of the wedding

I didn't do much the previous day, just arrive and rest a bit in San Luis. We also had a birthday party for one of my friends. Today was the day of the wedding of my cordobese roommate. I took advantage of the morning to tour a bit of the city and surroundings of San Luis. The city is not terribly touristy and there are few points of interest: the usual in hispanic cities, cathedral, city hall and capitols. The surroundings are dry and desertic, again a similar landscape to Mendoza. but I did take a few pictures. There had been a lot of fires in the area these days, and you could still see the remains of the burnings in some places. We went to Ciudad de la Punta which is strange because it's the newest city in Argentina. Only 5 years old. There's nothing really interesting there, but just the fact that it's a new human urban establishment. Not something very usual these days.

At night I finally attended the wedding which was really spectacular. Starting with the religious ceremony held at the cathedral which is really beautiful. The wedding party was a typical argentinian wedding, starting at 12 midnight and ending at 5-6 AM. The wedding is perfectly structurated from beginning to end, including sections of live music, professional salsa dancers, a video of pictures from the bride and groom, lots of great food and drinks. And obviously, lots of dance in cordob├ęs cuarteto style. I had a great time! A great ending for the first leg of my trip!

Well, I think it's all gotta do with the dancing and due to the religious nature of the ceremony. Since the party needs to be right after the mass, and latin american parties are always dancing, it makes sense to start the ceremony late, so the dance can be at night... in Mexico it's a bit of the same, but not as late! The ceremony starts about 8 and the dancing ends at 3 AM... but argentinians like to dance until sunrise for some reason!
