A year ago to the day, half a city was in mourning.  A season full of injuries and battles lost, it seemed that the dream was over.  After 16 years adrift we had fought back into the top flight and 4 years on we were out.

Players were sold, big names, big earners, players the team could no longer afford to keep.  Many managers too would have gone  but Bruce remained, pledging to bring us back.  He assembled a squad of young and hungry players, most unheard of, some having never played a full professional season.

The new season began, nervy but brightly, then a blip, 5 games with out a win and it began to look as if Bruce‚Äôs gamble on youth was not paying off.  The club stuck with their manager and thing began to improve and by Christmas we were riding high.

The new year brought another crisis, problems on the pitch, with the pitch and off the pitch and the dream began to fade once more.  But these young players were now becoming men and the have fought and fought and now the big prize - The Premiership - Is theirs!  Congratulations you have done us proud!!!

As you go through life,
its a long long road, there be joy's and sorrows to,
as we journey on, we will sing this song,
for the boys in royal blue,
oh we are partisan,
we will journey on,
Keep right on to the end of the road, keep right on to the end,
though the way be long, let your hearts be strong,
keep right on round the bend,
though you're tired and weary, still journey on,
till you come to your happy abode,
where all the love you've been dreaming of,
will be there (where!), at the end of the road,
Birmingham! Birmingham!

PS Congratulations also to Sunderland!
