Split Rock Lighthouse and the rocky shore

Many a lighthouse lover has stopped at this famous lighthouse. Me, personally I'm not into lighthouses. I've never taken the lighthouse tour because I don't want to pay for something I'm not that interested in. I prefer to enjoy the free aspects of the park (aside from the park entrance fee). A wonderful paved bike trail passes through the park with a huge hill as you enter the park from either side. I don't think I've ever gone so fast on my bike in my life. I was sure I was going to miss the curve at the bottom and crash! Its great biking through the park and along the shore, well not next to the shore. You get glimpses here and there of the lake and a few spots do have lake access.
I love the rocky shore here.
In addition to throwing rocks, you can also hike on one of the many trails or even camp here. But the campgrounds in the state parks are usually full in the summer. You have to make reservations online well in advance of your trip. Week days are easier to come by, but don't even think about coming up during a holiday! You would be crazy to come up here on a Holiday weekend (even most weekends) without reservations. Even the backpack sites fill up on holidays!
