This was the view from the entrance of the Junipine Resort in Sedona.
My first trip to Sedona
was with my Mom, Nancy this past year. I had never had the chance to take an extended vacation with her, so this was a first. We were staying in Tusayan
, Arizona and decided we would take a day trip to Sedona. The drive was about two and a half hours and fairly boring! I don't mind driving but there was not much in the way of interesting scenery en route. When we were about thirty miles out the ride became more mountainous and difficult. I used to live in Northern California and have driven the Pacific Coast Highway many times so I had a small amount of experience in this department. We detoured for breakfast at the Junipine Resort. They have a beautiful outdoor deck and a rustic setting in the mountains. The service and food were both very nice and I would love to be able to visit again for an extended spa stay at the resort. The setting was gorgeous and very peaceful. We spent most of the day touring the natural settings and enjoying the scenic red rocks. We wanted to do a hot air balloon tour, which are quite popular in Sedona, but we arrived too late in the day to be accomodated. Most of the afternoon was spent walking the downtown area and visiting the many Native American craft shops and artists galleries. I was only there for one day but would love to go back for a few more days!
