For those of you travelling to Wales this may be of some interest. The country, charming in itself has enough scenery, activity and natural beauty to entertain any age group. If you are strained from walking some of the tough mountain trails then this may be a plausible substitute. It isn't often the modest mountains of Wales can compete with giants like the Alps or the Rockies, but when it comes to mountain biking Wales is much more than a match for its loftier counterparts. Wales boasts some of the best riding on earth. Coed y Brenin in the Snowdonia region is Mecca of the Welsh mountains. An array of hand built courses enough to unsettle even the most competent riders.

I visited Coed Llandegla in North Wales, a short distance outside Wrexham. The beauty is that no matter which location you choose you are guaranteed not to be disappointed. If rocketing down a mountain at un-Godly speeds isn't your idea of fun then please do not be deterred. The trails range from leisurely family rides (Green), up to novice (Blue) and intermediate (Red). If it is your first time then the expert (Black) route may be slightly optimistic. Which ever decision you make it is bound to be the right one.

There is no price to use the track at Coed Llandegla however you will have to pay £4 to park your car. This enables you to use the facilities for upto 3 hours or more. The price for under 3 hours is margainly cheaper however it is best to get your moneys worth out of the £4. All proceeds are used to maintain the tracks. Bike rental is also available for at reasonable cost.

As if all that wasn't enough the decked patio area at the start (and subsequently the finish) has an all day BBQ on hand to fill the calorie void burned by a hard days ride. Staff are on hand to provide you with beef burgers, chicken and sausages plus a multitude of other BBQ related cuisine. Indoors there is a large cafe with seating area plus a bike shop staffed with some of the of the most knowledgeable mountain bike intellects around. The bikes are far from cheap however it doesn't hurt to dream.
