Quick dash to Brussels

Linda had never seen the beautiful city of Brussels so on Saturday, she, Gisela, Karl and I piled into Karl's car and set off. To say that a drive with Karl at the wheel is an adventure is an understatement. Those who visited Disneyland or Disney World in the early days remember the "E-ticket" rides. Well, they pale by comparison. We started out with the guys in the front and gals in the back but Gisela was getting motion sick so she and I traded places. Truth be told, I felt a lot safer back there! Yes, I KNOW people drive fast in Germany but some of my my other GERMAN friends have remarked about Karl's speed!
Anyway, we got to Brussels without incident, eventually found a parking garage and made our way to the magnificent Grande Place. It had been almost 20 years since I'd been there before and I was happy to be back. Unfortunately, the day was rather typical for Belgium (dismal) but we still had a great time. Naturally, we had to see the Manneken Pis and Linda agreed that, as a famous tourist attraction, it’s underwhelming.
Dinner was at Aux Armes de Bruxelles. Of course, what would I eat in Brussels but mussels and they were superb!! The drive back, being at night, was even more exciting than the drive out!!
