What is the Zwarte Cross?
The "Zwarte cross" is an event that is held every year in July at festival area "De Schans" in Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands. The Zwarte Cross grew out of an illegal cross event, but has developed over the years into a large multifaceted festival. But it is still very friendly and relaxed and is presented and organized with a laugh.
It offers something for everyone and your eyes and ears can't believe what they see and hear. Everywhere on the ground there is something to do. From motocross to music, from fairground to bizarre stunts! Besides a wide range of music, there is a festival market, a fair, theater, festival site, places where children can play and playful stunts. Then there is of course the spectacular cross itself which including famous Dutch people, mopeds, specials, engine sites and heavyweights join. Your laughter muscles will be in any case activated.
The music lovers on the Black cross get more than they want: spread over three days, more than a hundred bands in twelve different stages let us hear there songs. The programming is quite diverse, D J's, theater acts and of course a lot of bands in various genres like: rock, pop, blues, metal, reggae, folk, even troubadours.
So I was invited to do the bar in the Rock&Roll tent together with 14 neighbours. We earn some money for the neighborhood, and we get a free ticket for Sunday. Maike joined me and we both had a great time behind the bar and partying afterwards. We went there on bike because it is only 7km from my home. On a quiet evening I can here the music from the black cross at home.
