Venice
July 17, 2009
On the evening we arrived in Venice there was a great 45-minute firework. As if they would like to welcome us.. :p We stayed in the 3star Centauro hotel, which was in the same neighborhood as - and very close to - the San Marco square.
We bought a Rolling Venice card (EUR 4), which gives you discounts to many churches, museums and some restaurants. Additionally, we bought a youth ticket for the entire network of local transportation. The discounted version of this ticket is only available if you have a Rolling Venice card. For a three day ticket you will only pay EUR 18. So in total, you pay 22 EUR. For that you can ride buses and Vaporettos as much as you like.
We've visited the Peggy Guggenheim museum and several others, like the Museo Storico Navale (Naval Museum). If you wanna go to the latter, it's only open before noon! After a 2 night stay, we moved on to Rimini by train.

Centauro Hotel Venice
Our second hotel of our Italy trip. We booked this but I didn't read any reviews on this website. I was a bit shocked while reading the other review, which is criticizing the hotel like *@#*@.
The alley is quite dark, but not unfindable.. It's just a matter of following the street numbers, since whole Venice is numbered incrementally. We found it easily, making one mistake by walking into a dead end. :p It's a 5 minute walk from the hotel to the San Marco square, so the location is good.
The staff welcomed us in a nice way. The interior of the hotel is cosy. The rooms are air-conditioned and very small, though quite standard for Venice I guess(?). The bed was a bit small. The room and bathroom were clean. There was a alarm thingy above the shower, which I really didn't understand? (see picture) :P
The breakfast was basic but good. There is no internet connection available, although the hotel advertises with this. When I asked about the Internet connection, he told me that their advertisement points at the all over Venice available (paid) Internet.
