Monfrague National Park

The National park of Monfrague covers 17852ha streaching along the river Tagus and surrounded by large extents of oak covered parkland. This provides shelter for Mediterranean wildlife. Due to its well preserved woodland and scrubs and to the presence of endangered fauna Monfrague National Park is one of the best place for nature lovers in Europe.

This park now a days a true sanctuary for birdwatchers.Among birds Griffon Vultures are the most abundant although it can be easy to see Black and Egyptian Vultures,Golden,Bonelli's,Booted and short-toed Eagles,Black and Red Kites,Eagle owls and Black Storks,Grey herons,Comarants and many other birds.

I enjoyed the beauty of this wonderfull Mediterranean landscape for over 4 days and brought back beautifull memories with me that I never ever forget .Spectacular gorges surrounded by oak parklands, rough cliffs of Salto del Gitano and Portilla del Tietar,Castle of Monfrague shows the true beauty of Monfrague.

The roads Trujillo-Plasencia and Villarreal la Bazagona are the main way to access to these viewing points. So any one can explore the park by choosing different options. There are few walking routes also which any one can choose from half an hour to full day ones.

Monfrague National Park is a place that any bird lovers  must go place. We have camped in Camping Monfrague which provides ample space for tents, caravans and also some bungalows to hire.I think this campsite is the best palce to explore Monfrague National Park.
