When we reached the 0º0'0", we all were as happy as children with new toys, hahaha. This was a special ocasion and of course deserve tons and tons of pics, hahaha. I lost track of how many pics we made here. There's a museum inside the monument, which is about astronomy, but since none of us was an expert of this topic, we decided to skip it and get more pics, hehe.
I turned back and saw the rest of the gang! The ones we missed in Quito! Darren was worried and told me they were waiting for us at the park, but then decided to go to Mitad del Mundo.
Mitad del Mundo is much more than just the monument. There were some restaurants, shops, snack bars and a colorful small church. We decided to grab a cold beer, we deserved it, hehehe. This would be Kerry's first beer in Ecuador, but also something new for me, since I haven't try this brand: "Conquer". It was good, but I preferred the Club ;)
We stayed there until 2:30pm, taking more pics but it was time to move. We were starving!!! The group splitted. The "Germans" would stay here longer, the Venezuelan guy wanted to go back to Quito ASAP, and the rest of us were hungry but wanted to go to the town for local food, and not overprized :)
We didn't walk long until we found a restaurant that looked nice, so real! Their specialty was fried pork "fritada" and they were cooking that at the window, hahaha.
After checking the menu, we decided to have: Cynthia and Anthony got rice and lentils with beer, while Kerry and me got something called llapingacho which had pork, corn, potato empanada, tomato and onion. I knew there was no chance, I'd get something vegetarian here, but when you are in Rome...
Food was tasty and they gave us a complimentary snack too, hehehe. We were so hungry that were ready not even 30min later, hahaha. After taking some pics here, we decided to drive back to the city. It was 3:30pm and we were sure the ride back wouldn't be shorter than the drive to Mitad del Mundo, hehe.
Now, I can say: I have been in the middle of the world!!!!!
