sunrise in Quito 6:17am
Although I went to bed late last night (or early today), I sat my alarm clock for 6 o'clock. Why? Well, Anthony said my bed had the nicest view of the sunrise and/or sunset in Quito
, and I wanted to see it with my own eyes. Hehehe. Everyone was sleeping, just Minigunther and me were awake to see the sunrise. OMG! Anthony was so right. It was completely worth it, not to keep on sleeping. The view was much better than a dream :)
It was 7:30am, when I woke up Anthony. I wanted to go for breakfast at 8 at the latest :P Didn't know exactly what to have. I just knew I wanted something local, and so did he. So, I got the map and recommendations list. We started to walk to Plaza Grande, which was just 8 blocks away from the hostel.
Yadi & Anthony having breakfast :)
We were looking for a recommended cafe, but we never found it. That wasn't a total waste of time, since we were chatting plus the view of the square and buildings in the morning when is less crowded was beautiful.
I was feeling sad, since somehow I was disappointing Anthony who wanted to have local food. He told me not to worry when in our way back I saw a small cafe, very local indeed, yay! We got a local breakfast: coffee & empanada de verde for me(pastry made of plantain stuffed with chicken) and tamal for Anthony. It was yummy! I knew this was a good and safe place when I realized the other customers were cops, hahaha.
We went back to the hostel and waited for the rest of our exploring group. Venezuelan guy arrived at 9 and wanted to leave ASAP. I told him we had to wait for the rest of the crew.
almost the whole gang: Venezuela, Australia, New Zealand, England, Peru, Germany and USA! we are international!
He was starving so I told Anthony I'd go with him to a cafe near the plaza where we'd meet the German guys. Once we were at the cafe, I left the Venezuelan guy and went to the square to see the rest of the gang. I found Anthony coming with 2 girls, great! The girls were looking for a place to have breakfast, so they went to join the Venezuelan guy. I saw Darren at the square and he told me 2 guys from their group went to an ATM and would back soom. A while later, almost the whole crew was ready to leave. We were just missing these 2 guys. It was fun waiting for them. That square was beautiful and this was the perfect ocassion to introduce everyone. I just noticed I was the only one who everybody knew, hahaha. I'd be the glue that keeps the group together, awesome!
Finally the boys arrived.
are you coming?
But Kerry, Cynthia and Anthony went for a walk... Mmm, I'd go to look for them and we all would meet at the bus station. There was a lack of communication and we never met. Looked for them at the park, but no success. Eventually we'd meet, we all had the same destination "Mitad del Mundo" (Middle of the World). Jerry gave me some instructions about how to arrive there last night. I was the one who knew something about going there, so I was the guide ;)
After taking the trolley, we arrived to the bus station. This was the first stop, so bus was empty, nice. We could sit down. Ok, now we were ready to go to the middle of the world, yay!!!
