I have been reading about going to Guayaquil from Banos and there were 2 ways to do it. Taking a bus to other town and then change buses or the other one was taking a direct bus.
Oh well! It was still early. I agreed with Jerry to meet at 8am for breakfast, so I took a walk around town, just taking a look at the market and taking pics of it, surroundings and the hotel. I didn't have the chance to see the hotel last night, but now I did it. It was a beautiful one, small but charming and had nice views! I wrote a bit and then Jerry came for breakfast. This was really yummy, buffet type and I got tons of fruits :)
As agreed, we met Anthony, Kerry & Julio at 9:30am at the square. While we were waiting for Cynthia to arrive to town, the guys would go for breakfast.
One of the things you can do in Banos is renting an ATV or boogie to drive around town and surroundings. The only thing you need is your driver license. Anthony and Jerry got an ATV each one. Kerry and Julio didn't have their driver licenses with them, but I had mine. So we got a boogie for 1hr. First, I drove with Julio. I was driving first, but I let him take the wheel, hehehe. He has already driven around town before and I was looking for directional lights and mirror, hahaha. He knew were to drive, awesome! After 30min we went back for Kerry. While she was driving with Julio, I was walking around the lovely town and making a phone call.
It was around 11:30am, when the boys came back from their amazing tour, hehe. They did it just in time. Julio just talked to Santiago and they were arriving to town, so we'd meet at their hostel. It was really nice meeting Cynthia again, yay! Santiago was the local one and his original plan was taking his truck and drive us to the waterfalls - the highlight in Banos - but now we were 7 people! He and his mother took care of this matter and found someone trustful, who would drive us around. We hired him and would have cheap transport, yay! The truck was big, but not that big, hahaha, 4 people would go inside and 3 outside ;)
It was 12:30pm when we were already in our way to the waterfalls. Definitely we were in the rain forest.
It was so good having a driver and a local friend, so we were stopping at the best spots for pictures, hahaha. It was already past 1:30 and we'd go somewhere special for lunch. Where? Well, there was a place where you would go and fish your own meal! hahaha.
The restaurant was just a big cabin, nice and so real, hehehe. Food was very tasty and was a lot! OMG! The fish tastes better, when you fish it by yourself :) Kerry doesn't like fish, but they had a tasty soup and we also got extra patacones, hehehe. We had a tasty meal and fun time there. It was raining now. We were hopping it would stop, but nothing and it was getting late, so better start moving in order to be able to see all the waterfalls, specially the biggest one.
It was 3:30pm when we reassumed our journey.
After 1 hr more less, we arrived to the "Pailon del Diablo", well where you start the trekking for it. You had to pay an entrance fee (cheap) and start the journey. I saw all the people coming back were wet, hahaha, but they all were smiling and saying how great it was! Awesome, I coulndn't wait much more. There was a path, but it was all mudy. Just be careful.
First we saw another waterfall "La Puerta de la Verdad" (Truth door), water was so strong, and after going down for a bit we saw it: "The Pailon del Diablo".
After a short trekking and refreshing beer, we were ready to drive back to town. We all were tired and I was looking forward to a hot shower, hehehe. The guys would go to the thermal baths, but I had to pack. I was leaving early next morning and wanted to go partying with them later, hahaha. So we splitted, but would meet later.
Packing didn't take me as long as expected, hehe. We agreed with the guys to meet at 8:30pm at their hostel and it was still 7:30pm.
I have been writing my mom, but this was the first time I talked to her... yes, a bad daughter... but I was moving from one place to another... and... and... yes, no excuses but finally I did it. Pffff, it took me a long time tried to contact dad who wasn't in Lima, had to make 3 phone calls to find the number in Cusco and at the end. I couldn't reach him... at least I left a voice mail :P Ok, it was getting late, so better go to the hostel.
We arrived there, but the guys weren't there. I called Julio and he told me they were in their way. Mmm, that wouldn't take long, but they would take a shower, so we had some time and Jerry was starving, hahaha.
Pffff, we hurried up, since kitchen was closing at 10pm and we barely did it. Not even 10min later the 2 boys arrived. We were just checking the menu and Anthony saw a tasty dessert - carrot cake with coconut. So, even before ordering our dishes, he got dessert, hahaha. That's his way to do it, so in case he eats too much, he'd always have had tried the dessert.
The original idea was to go partying and dancing. But Anthony was exhausted and decided to go back to his hostel. I didn't have the chance to say goodbye and was feeling sad about it... We went to the same club as yesterday, had a couple of drinks and even danced a bit. But I was exhausted too. This was a loooong and full of fun day, furthermore I had to wake really early next morning. I said goodbye to the rest of the gang and Cynthia told me that she and Anthony would go to Peru, yay!!! It's good to go to sleep having such great news :)
