This was a new travel experience for me; my friend and I rented a car and drove around the country. It was quite an adventure, as the driving conditions in Costa Rica are dire in certain parts. However, I live for the thrill of an adventure, so every morning after a couple cups of cafe con leche we rolled the windows down and listened to our favorite Latin tunes until we got to our next destination safely.
Sarah and I decided after breakfast that we wanted to spend
the day seeing as many beaches as we could since the weather was perfect.
So, our first stop twenty minutes away from Playa de Jaco was Playa de
Hermosa. It is apparently the best surfing beach in Costa Rica.
As you can see from the pictures the waves were a sight to behold. Our
next stop ten minutes away was Playa de Esterillos Oeste. There we chose
to sunbathe for a couple of hours. It was really an extraordinary
opportunity to have the entire beach to ourselves. After we both
become golden-brown, we headed to our final beach of the day, Playa de Manuel
Antonio. This drive took a little over an hour. Besides the two
unstable bridges you must cross to get there, the drive is a scenic
one. You pass a mountain surrounded by a cloud forest and endless rows of
African palm trees. The city of Manuel
Antonio is a quaint one with fabulous restaurants,
shops, and hotels. Ignore what anyone says and go visit it! My only
regret of the trip was not having spent an entire day there, as the
beach is simply gorgeous. I definitely discovered the meaning of pura
vida on this day.
Thanks so much Amanda! I have so many talented writers on this site that I must live up to, you being one of them. I would LOVE to go to Costa Rica with you. :)
