Here in body at least
First thing is first, I HAD already written this entire piece up about two weeks ago, and then something happened my internet and not only did I lose everything (really irritating) but my connection has been on/ off for a bit, not to mention that I have been up to my eyes getting myself up and running here, so this is the first time that I have had to come back to this and get stuck in again.
Keep your fingers crossed it doesn't happen again, or I quit!
So the last leg of the journey. This involved a 9 hour flight from Hong Kong to Melbourne direct. Thankfully Cathay Pacific have pretty comfy planes, and on this leg I had not only an aisle seat, but an emergency exit row...you have got to love that. I had more room than I knew what to do with.
Awesome!I was sitting beside a lady flying from Amsterdam, who was actually from Israel. She was very nice and kept telling me I'd 'Love Australian men'.... and that they were 'nicer' than home...random. Quite why she felt the need to keep telling me this is beyond me! But it made me laugh. I hadn't the heart to point out that, no, that was not actually the reason for my trip. Actually I wanted to see the culture, and find a job, and travel blah blah, but she just kept winking at me, so I said no more!!
The flight was good except for the screaming toddler in the same row,on across from me, who screamed for the guts of the whole 9 hours. I liked that both my flights ended up being night flights as I think the sleeping and the dark cabin passes the time better.
I got off at the other end, and customs and baggage were easily passed and soon I was on my way through to arrivals for my pick up. Strange, but it hadn't actually sunk in that I was there. I was only there in body. The jet lag already started to kill me. All I could think of was a shower and a sleep!
