Old friends and little burgers
Wow--Internet access can be dicey when you are traveling. I am posting this on 8/12--6 days late. My last day heading east was a long one with some bright times. Missouri has beautiful green countryside as you travel through and I had the great pleasure of stopping to see an old friend, Elaine, with whom I had worked in San Diego. I also had my first White Castle. Hey--I am a California girl (ha) and we eat tacos. It was good to get together and reminisce and also good to see an old friend doing well. This was the day of the two worst intersections of my trip--(1) trying to get OUT of St. Louis (it seemed logical to head toward Chicago but I soon discovered I should have chosen Memphis. A quick crossover Illinois--saw the HUGE cross at Effingham. What dedication these people have. Then I sunk into the evil I465 loop around Indianapolis. This is a road that goes south and west (?) and changes. It also continually adds and takes away other numbers. I finally made it to my friends, DJ and Baylee at almost 11 in the dark. More about my adventures with them tomorrow!
