The entrance to the Chateau

Oh dear, the yawn-a-thon continues...

So after a nice lunch and about an hour's drive, we finally made it to the next stop of the day - Chateau de Cheverny. Unlike most other chateaus in this region, this chateau is still owned by the descendents of the original owners, and was perhaps the most 'modern' chateau I saw all along. I know in a previous entry, I gave the advice for those wishing to visit chateaus - see the outside first and then the inside. In this case, it was the other way around .... I really found the interiors very colourful, almost colour coded I must say. Each room had its own colour! All bright colours too. It was kind of cool. But the facade of the chateau however was very dull, both front and back. Again, I'd rate this one as a 2/10 overall. Extremelly boring, even worse in the heat.

The saving grace here was the garden though. Thing I'm noticing and loving about the Chateaus in France so far is the unashamed way of growing vegetables and flowers in the same garden, side by side. Only in France will you find a row of pink button roses being flanked either side by orange bell pepper and tomatoes!

We left the chateau for our final stop of the day - Thank God!

Ah, I looked it back and the wall was actually the outside wall of the estate of Chateau de Breuil, just a little down the road. And just to clarify, we didn't buy the wine in that castle but in the wine estate opposite of it :)
