Rob and I drove up to DC from Roanoke yesterday and spent the night with one of my best friends from dental school. Weve known each other 25 years We are getting older but when we see each other it's like when we were in college....I guess that defines a good friendship; it's enduring. We had lunch on the way to Dulles this afternoon with Grant and his wife Amy. Amy then dropped us at the airport a full 3 hours before the long flight. This note is being created at gate B-44 just inside the British 747 we will take across the pond tonight to London Heathrow arriving at 7:00 am. We will wait a few hours before boarding our connection to Berlin, and arrive about noon tomorrow. I'm not such a good airplane sleeper, so when we toured Grant's new dental office, I asked him for some valium. In typical Grant conservative style, he said " no way !"  Actually he just doesnt keep them in his office, so I'll just medicate with minis from the flight attendants like I usually do, and hope for some sleep. I scored an aisle seat so that part is positive. Robert is really quiet right now and I can tell he is only mildly excited about this trip. I'm sure it has mostly to do with missing Megan for 3 weeks. Anyway, we are off and I'm sure he will enjoy and appreciate the trip, even if he only admits it in private many years from now........

Next from London tomorrow morning.....
