Maunalua Bay

These photos were taken at Maunalua Bay which is on the southeast part of Oahu. Traveling east on Kalanianaole Highway (Highway 72), it is just before you reach Hanauma Bay. There is a shallow coral reef here but it's not very good for swimming. It's a popular place for water sports like jet skiing, parasailing and outrigger canoe racing. Maunalua Bay Beach Park has a few picnic tables and grassy areas, as well as showers and restrooms. There are a few shopping centers nearby where you can get supplies for a picnic. Another option would be to get some food to go at the Outback Steakhouse across the street.
