Woot! We're the first ones here!!! (little did we know...) >_<
Checked out of Le Meridien, we booked a driver to take us to Phuket Airport, costs 1,500baht ($71). This is the only driver who came, not on time, but EARLY! So we tipped him an additional 100baht. We arrived at the airport at 4:15, our flight was at 7:20. It was empty except for the security guards, we went in, parked ourselves in front of two counters. At 6:00, the staff started making their way to the counters but instead of checking us in, they just sat there and told us that there will be no flights out of Phuket due to BKK airport being closed. To cut a long story short, we waited 10 hours before we finally got on a flight at 2:45pm. The plane landed at Don Muang domestic airport instead of Suvarnabuhmi (sp?). The airport was stretched to its full capacity and it took an extra 2 hours before we were able to pick up our bags. Made our way to the taxi stand outside, paid 400 baht. Our driver did not know a word of English, it was lucky we made it to our hotel. Check in was slow but by this time, we didn't care. We've spent all day waiting & wasting it, what's another few minutes? LOL Dumped our bags, made our way to the BTS and got off at Siam. Had dinner at R Burger, the buns were made of the same dough used for steamed buns! Yum yum!
Airportman says:
What a terrible day for you both! All in all you made it, but still....
