very early morning (5 am!), very foggy, we are greeted at the train station by Tao, a very good guide who speaks excellent Italian.
A little rest at the Hotel, good breakfast, looks like we are charged for i, but eventually we don't pay (it was not included in our program, a nice surprise).
Then on to Tienamen Square - it still looks immense as it was in 2000. VERY long line to see Mao's mummy (luckily we have already seen it last time).
We enter the forbidden city, a marvel not to be missed. Huge crowds, but we are able to walk on a side of the courtyards and get some pictures WITHOUT visitors...
There has been a renovation for many buildings in the last few years, and the colors are vivid - it was worth to come back.
Still hot, humid and foggy, but bearable.

Lunch at a restaurant - usual chinese food, nice waitresses dressed Manchurian. In the afternoon to the The Temple of Heaven, (天坛) we decide to skip the Circular Mound Altar because Letizia's ankle is giving trouble
Again beautiful colors and artwork. In the park a nice area with people dancing in different styles and fashion...they seem very happy.
We go on to shopping - silk shop and pearls shop - my wife's delight - she is able to buy what she wanted.
Then se rests in the Hotel and I stop for a while at the natural History Museum where some impressive dnosaurs are on display.
As usual the taxi driver seems to be lost but again as usual gets to the hotel straight.
Then it starts raining - we walk to a shopping area and later I go alone to the National Grand Theatre - it looks very close to the hotel in our map - but it's a very very long walk.... I make it
