The Cellier des Templiers (Templars' cellar) on the heights of Banyuls is a cooperative of more than 750 winegrowers exploiting 1200 hectares of vines in Banyuls,Port-Vendres and Collioure and producing a broad range of fine wines.
We enjoy this easy signposted informative and entertaining tour during one hour:after a short film,one see the Large Cellar standing in the middle of the vineyard and home to a very impressive ensemble of vats and oak barrels.
Then we got a free tasting of several wines(ad libitum!),don't worry parents,your kids may enjoy some cartoons in the videoarea!
We didn't see the Underground Cellar from the 13th century built by the Knights Templar where the the greatest Cuvées finish to mature in bottles.
Open year round,from 1st April to October 30 th:1000-1930,closed on Sunday from november 1st to March 31?100-1800,Saturday 1000-1300 and 1500-1800.
Free French tour BUT thanks to the French sense of welcome and business,the English and the German(only on reservation) cost 5 euro!!!
