I continue on down a long boring stretch until I reach the town Lucan.  It looks like a modern, relatively prosperous suburb without much history to it--  although I do see the ruins of an old church in a graveyard…

It starts raining… so I scamper off looking for shelter… Actually I’ve experienced all four seasons in one day today--  winter cold, spring rain, summer head when the sun comes out and then chilly autumn wind again--  it’s getting a bit annoying…

Anyways… I head on back towards Dublin, to a shopping area and then along a bicycle path back to the city… Not a very special day, nor any special discoveries that will bump Ireland up much in my pecking order of favourite countries…

I am, however, quietly inspired by the history of this land… How despite centuries of brutal oppression and even genocide by the British they’ve managed to preserve their culture--  even those who fled to America, gain independence, and become a relatively prosperous, productive country that they are today…

I head on back to Dublin, take a few more pictures at St Patrick’s and up at the needlelike “Flagpole Monument”… and on back to England…
